Ways these Broncos and the flexible QB can halt that Kansas City Chiefs' reign.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Live coverage features live text for Sunday's games via multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard through select stations covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six of the NFL season and following last week's talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, they both lost their perfect starts.
Striking during those contests was the amount of infractions each committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments meaning they essentially beat themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this Sunday.
However it proved good to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to have the shortfall and then direct three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the victory by four points.
Denver boast the top defender with CB Pat Surtain II. They are first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, and Denver won that contest.
They executed effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not necessarily sending extra defenders but they might plug two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and send a nickel off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, we said during a show how the Broncos might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season strongly then excelled of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?
New tight end Evan Engram has stepped up big while recent RB JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He now ranks fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (402) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).
It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.
This demonstrates that the Broncos represent a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in favourable situations.
This has helped quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to pass anywhere, but they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, and he is highly agile.
His assets are his mobility, the capacity to throw while moving, and using different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can throw that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got great poise under pressure and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack whenever possible and can pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.
If you constantly rush it eats up the clock and forces the defence to be in play for longer, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the field downfield side to side. This proves exhausting.
The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think the coach likes that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to have a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. The coach can really build something up how he desires to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
The head coach has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. In my opinion the achievements Denver are experiencing on offence is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix helps make him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to assist you during difficult moments and build self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they good enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're working above average, which is a solid position to hold their division. The key to do is maintain this trajectory.
They're really good at embracing their strength, which is running the ball, and this is exactly what they should do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad yet to win any game.
Ever since the league started recording turnovers in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers in five outings, this is surprising considering that the head coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the division.
It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they face since Denver {beat|def
