Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
