Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
