Battlefield 6's Relaxed Playlist Ignites Heated Debates Regarding Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times
Recently, the game developers launched a fresh playlist titled Casual Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode resembles the standard Breakthrough format but includes a few key adjustments:
- Every squad includes only eight real players, with the rest made up of AI-controlled opponents.
- Actions done by human gamers grant complete experience points, while bot actions offer lower rewards.
- Only two locations can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State.
- Elements like Player tags, achievements, and career stat updates have been turned off.
In short, this mode delivers on its name: it's a casual version of Breakthrough. On the surface, one could assume there's nothing wrong, as it gives more options for players seeking different ways to enjoy the title. However, if video games has shown one thing, it's that not everyone will be happy. In other words, many Battlefield 6 players are upset.
Player Reactions: From Fury to Praise
"People want real players. Avoid making the mistakes of your rivals," reads one reply to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing idea," comments a different user. At the same time, in community forums, one user notes, "It's unclear where we are headed with this game," while someone else lists all the issues they believe to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Fix bugs, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, improve hit detection. We do not require this bot mode."
However, amid the criticism, some gamers explaining how much they're enjoying the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to practice, real players prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," says a forum post. "The community fails to see that there are gamers who have lives and don't play this game 24/7. Let them find a middle ground," adds another. One reply via social media explains that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is great for me," and someone else praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."
Valid Concerns and Player Feedback
Despite the support, there are constructive reasons to criticize the new mode. A few folks have pointed out that it could increase wait times even longer for different playlists because of the large amount of playlists in the game already. Similarly, some areas often face mostly bots in the current modes. It also seems a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of human gamers, even though it primarily centers on combat against bots.
Finally, a major grievances is that Battlefield Portal was meant to provide full XP, including AI matches, but that got canned when they attempted to eliminate bot farms from the system. Thus this new playlist feels like the player base meeting them in the middle, as per a Reddit comment. A different user labels this mode as the developers "making a mistake significantly, I had great enjoyment in the first couple of days, what prompted them to change it?"
Future Prospects: Adjustments Occur?
Should the development team has demonstrated something so far with Battlefield 6, it is that they're listening and responding to feedback. Tasks being too difficult were adjusted very quickly, just like the specific battle pass objectives. It is likely that, if their data indicates this new playlist is underperforming to their expectations, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
