Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with results so bad.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
